“Just 3s” is back!

3 years old (or just about) once again will have their own I Can Do! Gymnastics class starting September 12 at 4:30 p.m.. The class will last for 45 minutes each Monday evening.

Students sing songs while they stretch and warm-up, learn forward and backward rolls, and gain skill and balance on the specially designed “motorics” and much more.

I Can Do! Gymnastics is a fun place to learn and encourages students that they can do it, if they try.

Normal Class Schedule during Spring Break

Normal Class Schedule during Spring Break

Dear Parents & Students,

I Can Do! School of Gymnastics will meet Monday and Tuesday night as normal. We will be practicing for the April 2nd Recital!

If you are going on Spring Break, we hope you have a wonderful time but please be careful. If you are staying in Clearwater, we look forward to seeing you this week!

Farewell Annie!!

Farewell Annie!!

Dear Parents,

Tuesday will be Annie’s last night of instruction at Clearwater Studios.

She has accepted a job much closer to her home in Sedgwick, teaching competitive gymnastics at the Northwest YMCA.

She expressed to us how much she will miss all of the students and that it was a hard decision — but it will be a much better situation for her.

She has helped many students raise their skills to a new level, and brought Cheerleading to Clearwater Studios. We are grateful for her dedication.

We will have a special farewell party for her on Tuesday, March 30th, at 8pm, in the Studio. Please come if you can.

Annie is the fourth head instructor we’ve had the pleasure of having at I CAN DO! Even though the transition at first seems hard for students, parents, and us, things have always gone well — allowing us to learn and grow.

We are currently interviewing several promising candidates to replace Annie and will be adding a new assistant in April, as well.

Most of all, we want to thank you! Without your support (and sometimes patience), we could lose our momentum.

Nothing keeps it going any better than to see all the smiling young faces excited to start another class. Thanks for allowing them to be apart of I CAN DO!

Come Tuesday evening and help us wish Annie all the best!

Hope to see you there,

Stephen & Cathleen Smothers

Spring Break 2010!

Spring Break 2010!

If you are deferring that wonderful get-away till summer (like me) but want to be sure the kids are still having fun over Spring Break, you’ll be glad to know classes will continue as scheduled this week.

Even though some of you might vacation elsewhere over Spring Break, we will still be having fun in, partly-cloudy yet trending warmer, downtown Clearwater. :)

Happy Spring Break 2010!!

Recital: What to Look For

Recital: What to Look For

With only one more day until recital, I was reflecting this morning about what I have seen in practice the last two weeks.

What has really amazed me is the kids’ joy!

Each student I have seen is excited about performing in the recital!

They do not seem nervous or shy — but confident and ready.

Here is what is most amazing to me. It does not seem to matter to them that their skill level is not quite up to “performance level.”

As adults, we feel we must have our act together before we “put it out there.” However, these kids are happy and secure sharing what they have learned so far — even if it’s not yet a “perfect 10.”

So tomorrow, be sure to be watching for this. It is the essence of the whole recital.

Watch for more than how technically correct a child performs their gymnastics – watch for how they feel about it. You will see, like I have seen in practice, their confidence, joy, and enthusiasm for this sport.

The children know their skills will improve.

Tomorrow, they are excited just to share with you where they are now.

Should not we as adults also be as comfortable just to share where we are now – knowing that our skills, too, will improve?
