It’s time to renew AAU

It’s time to renew AAU

Dear Parents,

September is AAU Insurance enrollment month – if you have all ready renewed for 2012, thank you! Your child has been enrolled.

However, if you did not included $14 with your September tuition payment, please submit a separate check as soon as possible. We are required by our General Liability Insurance Company to have all students covered under the AAU insurance umbrella before they can participate in gymnastics.

You may either bring the check to the gym or send it by mail to:

Clearwater Studios
18033 W 111th St S
Clearwater, KS 67026

We appreciate your business and prompt attention to this matter.

Thank you!!

Stephen & Cathleen

Fall Schedule starts Tuesday September 6th.

Dear Parents,

Starting in September we are making some changes to the I Can Do! School of Gymnastics Program.

First is the new schedule.

You should have received an email regarding the new class times and schedule. If not, be sure to check the Fall Class Schedule Link before coming to class starting in September. By the way, there will be no classes Monday, September 5 because of the Labor Day Holiday.

Second, we would like to offer the opportunity for Moms to get involved with some of the “behind-the-scenes” administrative duties at I Can Do! If you would be interested in helping and saving money on monthly tuition, let us know. You can send us an email to icandogymnastics@gmail.com or give us a call at 584-2322. We have several projects where we could use some help – some recurring monthly others less frequently.

Third, in September we will discontinue offering the $35 month-to-month rate for those who were “grandfathered” from the tuition increase last year. The current month-to-month rate is $45, the Quarterly rate is $120 (approximately $40/month), and the Trimester rate is $140 (approximately $35/month) for everyone. These were effective since last year. Please pick the tuition schedule that is best for you.

Finally, returning this Fall will be Miss Morghan Herring along with two new head instructors, Miss Alyssa Blakley and Miss Rebekah Mumford.  We are hopefully Miss Christi Philbrick may be able to fill in too, depending upon her college class schedule.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or recommendations, please know, they are always appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you again this Fall.

Best Regards,

Stephen & Cathleen

Spring Break 2010!

Spring Break 2010!

If you are deferring that wonderful get-away till summer (like me) but want to be sure the kids are still having fun over Spring Break, you’ll be glad to know classes will continue as scheduled this week.

Even though some of you might vacation elsewhere over Spring Break, we will still be having fun in, partly-cloudy yet trending warmer, downtown Clearwater. :)

Happy Spring Break 2010!!

Recital: What to Look For

Recital: What to Look For

With only one more day until recital, I was reflecting this morning about what I have seen in practice the last two weeks.

What has really amazed me is the kids’ joy!

Each student I have seen is excited about performing in the recital!

They do not seem nervous or shy — but confident and ready.

Here is what is most amazing to me. It does not seem to matter to them that their skill level is not quite up to “performance level.”

As adults, we feel we must have our act together before we “put it out there.” However, these kids are happy and secure sharing what they have learned so far — even if it’s not yet a “perfect 10.”

So tomorrow, be sure to be watching for this. It is the essence of the whole recital.

Watch for more than how technically correct a child performs their gymnastics – watch for how they feel about it. You will see, like I have seen in practice, their confidence, joy, and enthusiasm for this sport.

The children know their skills will improve.

Tomorrow, they are excited just to share with you where they are now.

Should not we as adults also be as comfortable just to share where we are now – knowing that our skills, too, will improve?

Students may wear any color clothing that is comfortable and non-restrictive.  A leotard or bike pants/shorts and tank top or T-shirt work best.  Shirts should be tucked in and not too baggy.  If tights are worn, they should be stirrup or capri.  Long hair should be pulled back in a low ponytail or pigtails (barrettes can hurt when you roll on them)!  Jewelry should always be left at home! Students will be barefoot in  Gymnastics class; however, students may wear cotton socks that can be easily removed (some equipment requires bare feet to prevent slipping). For Cheerleading class, students need to wear  comfortable athletic shoes. Check with the instructor for the type of shoes to wear for  Dance .

Class Make-ups and Inclement Weather

Class Make-ups and Inclement Weather

If your child misses a class due to illness or you know of an upcoming conflict, please Contact US or call 584-2322 or call Cathleen at work 584-8378 to schedule a make-up. We will usually be able schedule your child to attend at another class time.  If we must cancel gymnastics for any reason, we will post it on this blog/website to let you know as soon as possible and schedule a make-up day. Please subscribe for email updates and get the latest posts. Subscribe by filling in the Contact US information.

Inclement Weather

If there is no school due to bad weather (snow, flooding, T-storms, etc.)  there will be no classes. Classes cannot be made up due to inclement weather days.

Subscribe to this websites for email or RSS updates, check back often, and watch Channel 10 for updates.

Observation Time

Observation Time

To better teach our students, it is standard practice for parents/guardians to drop off children for class or sit in our waiting room. This allows the instructor to have the students’ undivided attention, creating a safer and more focused learning environment.  However, we do realize parents may want to watch their child participating, and progressing, as well.  Therefore, during the first class of every month parents/guardians are invited to observe their student’s progress.  Feel free to set up chairs in the gym or dance room.

Pick-up and Drop-off

Pick-up and Drop-off

Please pick up and drop off your child at the Clearwater Studios front door, 126 E. Ross. We will try to start class promptly, so please allow enough time for your child to get inside and be ready to go. Also, please be sure to pick up your son or daughter as soon as class time ends so as not to disrupt the next class. There is a waiting room available inside if you wish to wait until class is finished.
